Kathya M. Firlik
Kathya M. Firlik is an associate in the law firm in Jones & Mayer. Mrs. Firlik serves as a deputy city attorney for the cities of Blythe, California City, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Grand Terrace, La Habra, Placentia, West Covina, Westminster and Whittier. She focuses her practice on municipal law.
Mrs. Firlik obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine, in 2003. Thereafter, she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Whittier Law School in May 2007. She served as President of the Hispanic American Law Student Association from 2005-2007 and was an active member of the Public Interest Law Foundation from 2004-2007. She has been an associate with the law offices of Jones & Mayer since 2008.
Mrs. Firlik's duties include drafting and revising ordinances and resolutions ,drafting, revising and negotiating a wide variety of contracts including professional service agreements, public works agreements and telecommunication agreements, handling conflict of interest (PRA and 1090) matters, response to California Public Records Act requests and subpoenas, conducting personnel investigations, preparing legal opinions and analysis on a variety of issues affecting public entities. She also has experience in nuisance abatement, health and safety receiverships, public safety issues, labor and employment law, the Brown Act, and code enforcement.
Mrs. Firlik is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association and the St. Thomas More Society in Orange County.
