Baron J. Bettenhausen
Baron J. Bettenhausen practices in the area of public law, land use law, real estate law, and business law. He currently serves as City Attorney for the City of Blythe as well as Assistant City Attorney to the cities of Grand Terrace and California City. He also serves as deputy city attorney for a number of other cities represented by the firm.
Mr. Bettenhausen joined the law offices of Jones & Mayer in 2010 and specializes in all aspects of municipal and local government. He regularly advises public agencies on a large variety of issues including land use and zoning matters, federal and state water quality laws, telecommunication laws, compliance with California Environmental Quality Act, construction of public infrastructure, municipal contracting, utility fee and rate setting, commercial development, and franchising.
Mr. Bettenhausen’s duties include working closely with public agencies, officials, and staff to provide analysis and guidance on a wide variety of matters. He assist in the analysis and guidance regarding current legislation; preparation of municipal code sections and regulatory programs; and advises boards, departments, officers, and employees on legal questions relating to their specific powers and authority including Brown Act and conflict of interest requirements. He also routinely drafts and reviews a wide variety of contracts including Disposition and Development agreements, Economic Development Incentive agreements, professional service agreements, public works agreements, and telecommunication and franchise agreements.
